Lease

South Carolina. This Indenture made the twenty second day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Eight [22 Sep 1768] and in the Eighth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the faith and so forth. Between John Norman and Richard Norman of Charles Town in the province aforesaid of the one part and William Norman of Beach Hill in St. Pauls Parish in the said province planter of the other part

Witnesseth that the said John Norman and Richard Norman for and in consideration of the sum of Ten Shillings Lawfull [sic] Current money of the province aforesaid to them or one of them in hand paid by the said William Norman at and before the sealing and Delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged they the said John Norman and Richard Norman have Granted, Bargained & Sold and by these presents do Grant Bargain and Sell unto the said William Norman his Executors Administrators and Assigns All that Plantation or Tract of Land of them the said John Norman and Richard Norman Containing Five hundred and fifty five [555] acres Situate lying and being at Beach Hill, in St. Pauls Parish in Colleton County in the province aforesaid and Butting and Bounding to the Northward on Land of Samuel Hamlin, James Smith, Archer Smith, and Daniel Blake to the Eastward and Southward on Land of the same William Norman and to the Westward on Land of Susannah Perry and Sarah Finley

In Witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto Interchangeably set their hand and Seals the Day and year first above Written.

Appeared Josiah Smith Junr who made oath that he saw John Norman and Richard Norman Sign Seal & as their act and Deed Deliver this Instrument of writing for the uses therein mentioned that he saw George Smith Junr subscribe his name as a Witness with himself thereto and that the name subscribed Josiah Smith Junr as the other Witness is this the Deponents proper hand Writing.
