500 Acres

A Memorial of Land exhibited by William Holmes of the Parish of St. Paul in Colleton County, Planter pursuant to an act of Assembly in that case lately made and provided

Francis Holmes, Senr [Senior] late of Charles Town in the Province of South Carolina deceased, in and by his late Will and Testament bearing date the fourth day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twenty six [04 May 1726], amongst other things gave and devised unto the memorialist by the name of his Son William Holmes, and to his Heirs and Assigns forever, all that his Plantation on Tract of Land purchased by him of Moses Norman and John Simmons Junr [Junior] Deceased situate at a place called Beach Hill and containing five hundred [500] acres or thereabouts, which Land was purchased in two Tracts and bounds to the westward on Moses Norman to the eastward on Rebecca Simmons, to the northward on Land formerly belonging to William Gibbons, deceased, and to the southward on Land belonging to John Simmons deceased and was granted at the yearly quit rent of one shilling per hundred acres

In Witness whereof the said William Holmes hath hereunto put his hand the twelfth day of May Anno Domini 1733 [12 May 1733]
