To ALL to whom these presents shall come I John Stone of Charles Town in the province of South Carolina Block maker send Greeting

KNOW YE that I the said John Stone as well for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and bear unto my two loving Grand children Martha Corbin & Edmund Corbin Daughter and son of my loving daughter Sarah Norman widow as also for divers other good causes and considerations me thereunto moving HAVE given and granted and by these presents do absolutely give grant and confirm unto them my said two Grand children Martha Corbin and Edmund Corbin one negro slave named Boston one set of Mahogany Drawers one Mahogany oval Table one Mahogany Tea Table one half chest of Drawers seven large silver spoons marked thus «symbol» one large looking glass one smaller looking glass one Bedstead with Bed Bolster and pillows one silver watch one silver Hilted sword and also a square caedar [sic] Table all which Negro slave & other the premisses [sic] I have put into the hands and possession of their Mother the said Sarah Norman for the use of my said Two Grand children Martha and Edmund until either of them shall attain her or his age of Twenty one years or be married which shall first happen and then to be equally shared and Divided between the said Martha and Edmund according to a valuation and allotment thereof to be made by their said Mother Sarah or in case of her Death by me my Executors or administrators but in case of the Death of either of them my said two Grand children before she or he shall come to the age of Twenty one years and before her or his said marriage then the said slave and premisses shall be & Remain wholely [sic] and solely to the survivor of them my said two Grand children Martha Corbin and Edmund Corbin her or his Executors admors [administrators] and assigns TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said slave and premisses unto the said Martha Corbin & Edmund Corbin & either and each of them their her or his Executors admors or assigns in manner & form herein before limitted [sic] and Expressed to their her or his own several and Respective use and behoof for ever without any manner of claim challenge or demand from me the said John Stone or from any other person or persons whatsoever for me or authorized or procured by me and without any money or other thing to be yielded therefore unto me my Executors or administrators and I the said John Stone the said negro slave and all and singular the aforesaid premisses to the said Martha Corbin and Edmund Corbin their her or his Executors administrators and assigns to the uses or use aforesaid against all people do and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents and further know Ye that I the said John Stone have put the said Martha Corbin and Edmund Corbin in possession of all and singular the said negro slave and premisses by the Delivery of the sum of five shillings [5s] current money of this province unto their mother the said Sarah Norman on and for their behalf

In Witness whereof I the said John Stone have hereunto set my hand and seal the fifteenth day of November in the Thirtieth year of His Majesty King George the second's Reign Annoq Domini 1756 [15 Nov 1756].

Sealed and Delivered and also a five shilling Bill was delivered by the above named John Stone to the above named Sarah Norman in the name of all the above Granted premisses for the use of the said Martha Corbin and Edmund Corbin in the presence of Joseph Moody

Memorandum that on this 19th day of February 1759 before me Jacob Motte Esqr. [Esquire] one of his Majtys. [Majesty's] Justices of the peace for the county aforesaid personally appeared Josh. [Joseph] Moody the witness to the annexed instrument of writing who being duly sworn made oath that he was present and did see the within named John Stone sign seal and as his act and Deed deliver the same to and for the uses intents and purposes therein mentioned and Expressed and further this Deponent saith [sic: sayeth] that a five shilling Bill was delivered by the said John Stone to Sarah Norman in the name of the premisses and that he signed his name as a witness thereto.
