A memorial exhibited by Elijah Postell to be registd [registered] in ye Auds [Auditor's] Office.

Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. [Containing] 800 acres, Situate in Colleton County (being part of a Tract of 1250 acres) Granted the 16th day of Jany 1735 [16 Jan 1735], to John Godfrey Qt [“Rt” missing] 4/ Pro money p hund acres [Quit Rent 4-shillings Proclamation money per hundred acres], butting & bounding at the time of the Grant, Swardly [Southwardly] on vact [vacant] land, Wwardly [Westwardly] on John Champney, Nwardly [Northwardly] on John Kazier's & Ewardly [Eastwardly] partly on Thomas Drayton's and partly on Colll. [Colonel] Alexdr [Alexander] Trenche's [sic: Trench's] land. Which Plantation or Tract of Land was by a Writ of Fieri Facias, Seized by Rawlins Lowndes then Provost Marshal, and Sold by him at Public Sale the 23rd day of Augt 1753 [23 Aug 1753] to Joseph Glover the highest Bidder_ and Conveyed by the Sd [Said] Rawlins Lowndes by deed of Sale bearing date the 2nd day of Octr 1753 to the Said Joseph Glover, Who afterwards With his Wife Anne Conveyed the Same to the memorialist by lease and release bearing date respectively the 9th & 10th days of May 1759 [09 May 1759 & 10 May 1759].

Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 297 acres, Situate in Colleton County St Pauls Parish (being part of a Tract of 300 acres) Granted to John Miles Senr [Senior] which on a Resurvey contained 396 acres. Who devesed [sic: devised] the Same to his Son Thos. [Thomas] Miles. And he by his last Will devised the Same to his Two Daughters Elizabeth Miles & Mary Miles, Mary dying under age & without Issue, her part descended to her Two Surviving Sisters, Elizabeth & Martha Miles, Elizh [Elizabeth] afterwards intermarried with Isaac McPherson.

Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 35 acres Situate in Colleton County on Horse Savanah[1] [sic: Horse Savanna] butting & bounding NEwardly [Northeastwardly] on lands of Wm. [William] Cattell Senr Decd [Deceased], to the Sward [Southward] partly on Said Cattells & partly on Isaac Nichol's lands, Eward [Eastward] partly on Said Nichols & partly on James Brisbanes, to the Westward part on Martha Miles & part on Samuel Wainwright, being the Sd three fourth [3/4] part of the above mentioned Tract of 396 acres, lately belonging to the Said Thomas Miles Junr [Junior] decd [deceased]. Granted the 19th day of February 1767 [19 Feb 1767] to John Izard and Conveyed by him to Isaac McPherson, by lease and release bearing date respectively the 4th and 5th days of March 1767 [04 Mar 1767 and 05 Mar 1767]. Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 160 [sic: should be 162] acres Situate in Colleton County (and is part of a Tract of 850 acres) originally Granted the 17th day of Octr 1755 [17 Oct 1755] to John Miles who by deed of Sale bearing date 16th day of May 1759 [16 May 1759]. Conveyed the aforesaid 162 acres of land to his daughter Elizabeth Miles, and is butting & bounding to the Nward [Northward] by Broad River leading from Stono to Parker's & Ferguson's Ferry to the Eward [Eastward] & Sward by Fredk [Frederick] Grimkie's Land, to Wward [Westward] by other part of the Sd 650 acre Tract. All which Three Several Tracts of 297 acres, 35 acres & 162 acres making 494 acres more Sold and Conveyed by Isaac McPherson & Elizabeth his Wife (late Elizabeth Miles) to the memorialist by lease & release bearing date respectively the 31st day of March & 1st day of April 1767. Qt Rt 4/ Pro money p hund. acres [Quit Rent 4-shillings Proclamation money per hundred acres].

Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 330 acres, Situate in Colleton County St Pauls Parish bounding Wwardly on land formerly Paul Jeny's, Northwardly on Daniel Blake, Ewardly on James Smith & Swardly on Land belonging to the Estate of Jno [John] Norman, being part of a Tract formerly belonging to Job Chamberlain [sic: Chamberline]

also Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 207 acres, Situate in Berkly [sic] County St George's Parish, bounding NEwardly [Northeastwardly] on lands formerly of Wm. Downing's & Thomas Diston's SoEwardly [Southeastwardly] on Sd Diston's, SWwardly [Southwestwardly] on Land formerly Wm. Ways & NWwardly [Northwestwardly] on lands of Richard Beden [sic: Bedon]. Which Two Tracts of 330 acres & 207 acres, making together 537 acres of Land were conveyed by Samuel Hamlin by deed of Sale bearing date the 31st day of July 1768 [31 Jul 1768] to the memorialist. Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 796 acres, Situate in a Place commonly call'd Beech Hill partly on St George's Parish Berkly County & partly in St Paul's Parish Colleton County, butting & bounding to the NWward [Northwestward] partly on lands Sold by John Miles and Elijah Postell partly on lands Sold by Saml [Samuel] Hamlin to Said Elijah Postell & partly on Lands belonging to Danl [Daniel] Doyley, to the NEward [Northeastward] partly on Danl Doyley's, and part on Miss Francis Daniel's & partly on Jno [John] Drake's Land, to the So [South] & SoEward [Southeastward] partly on the Beech Hill high road & partly on lands belonging to the Estate of Joseph Waring decd, & partly on Richard Warings Land, & to the SoW [Southwest] on lands belonging to Wm. Blake. also.

Of a Plantation or Tract of Land Contg. 500 acres Situate in Berkly County, St George's Parish, between a Swamp commonly call'd the Cypress & Edisto River (being part of Two Five hundred acre Tracts) of Pine Barron, originally Granted to Thomas Diston, & is butting & bounding to the Northward on land's [sic] formerly Uriah Edward's decd, and now the Estate of Hugh Dowse decd, to the Southward on Pine land Supposed to be the Property of Colll. [Colonel] Richard Bedon's Estate and to the Wward [Westward] on the remaining part of the Two aforesaid 500 acre Tracts, now belonging to Daniel & William Blake and to ye Eastward on land's [sic] belonging to Persons unknown Which Two Tracts of 796 acres and 500 acres making together Twelve hundred and Ninety Six [1296] acres of Land was conveyed to the memorialist by Leases and Releases bearing date respectively the Twenty Seventh & Twenty Eight days of Jany 1769 [27 Jan 1769 & 28 Jan 1769].
