Will of Mary Smith, Colleton County SC, 12 Dec 1755

In the Name of God Amen I Mary Smith of Colleton County in the Province of South Carolina being infirm in Body but of sound mind & memory do make ordain & Ratify this my Last Will & Testament hereby Revoking & disannulling all other whatsoever as followeth

I commend my Soul to Almighty God & my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried according to the discretion of my Executors in hopes of a Glorious Resurrection through Jesus Christ to Eternal Life my Debts & funeral charges being first paid I dispose of all my Worldly Goods as followeth

Imps [Imprimis] I give and bequeath to Martha Ellicott one Negro Girl named Dinah when of age

Item I give and bequeath to Wm [William] Ellicott one Negro boy named Toney when of age

Item I give and bequeath to John Ellicott one Sorrel Mare named Bonny

Item I give and bequeath to Martha Corbin the Daughter of Frances Corbin deceased one Negro Girl named Peg

Item I give and bequeath to Edmond Corbin one Horse Colt come off the Mare Fly

Item the rest of my Personal Estate not yet giving [sic] away to be sold to discharge my Debts the overplus if any to be disposed of as followeth

Item Twenty Pound to be giving [sic] to Mary Osgood the Daughter of the Reverend Mr John Osgood.

Item Twenty Pound to be giving to Sarah Norman the Daughter of John Norman

Item the Rest to be Equally divided between Edmond Corbin & Martha Corbin & Rebecca Norman Children of Sarah Norman & Likewise to John Ellicott & William Ellicott & Martha Ellicott & Sarah Ellicott Children of Amey Ellicott

Lastly I constitute & appoint my beloved Friends John & Sarah Norman Executors of & Executrix of this my Last Will & Testament to manage and dispose of all the Worldly Estate it hath pleased God to bless give me as above & within mentioned

In Witness hereof I have set my Hand & Seal this twelfth day of December in the Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second ~ King Defender of the Faith &c: Anno Dom one thousand seven Hundred & Fifty five [12 Dec 1755] ٪
