Note: Their home, Fernside, situated on the landed estate in Upson County, was a center of social and literary culture where a wide circle of friends from city and country was often entertained [sic] (see "Respess Place, Memoirs and Landmarks of Georgia," by Lucien Knight, State Historian). When the children reached school age the Respess family moved to Barnesville and the plantation home became their summer vacation resort (see "History of Upson County" by Nottingham).
