Note: In the Parke-Gildersleeve book, the author lists Sarah as the first child of Moses Norman and (probably) Rebecca Sumner, but he doesn't give a birth date for her. Their second child, Joseph Norman, was born probably by 1710, so the same would be true for Sarah Norman. We suppose 1708 as a reasonable guess for the year of her birth.

Note: From Barak Norman I's will (w.d. 27 Jul 1770, w.p. 14 Dec 1770), we find this passage:

From Barak Norman I's will (w.d. 27 Jul 1770, w.p. 14 Dec 1770), we find this passage:
"Item: it is my desire that all my Lot or Lots of of Land in Georgia in Sunberry Township, with the rest of my whole Estate both Real and Personal in South Carolina shall be sold and the money arising therefrom to be put out at Interest by my Executors and kept at Interest till my Three Grand Children shall respectively arrive to age by Law named as followeth, Elizabeth Norman Daughter of my Son Barak [II] in Georgia Elizabeth Sillavant Daughter of my Daughter Elizabeth and the Eldest and only Son of my said Daughter Elizabeth Just born in South Carolina then as they arrive to age by Law it is my desire that they shall share and share alike equally".
From this passage, we can deduce several facts:

  • Barak Norman II had child Elizabeth Norman;
  • Elizabeth Norman married a man with surname Sillavant;
  • Elizabeth Norman had two children: Elizabeth Sillavant, and a Son born in 1770;
  • All three grandchildren were born after 1752, since they had not yet "arrive[d] to age" as of the writing of the will;
  • It is highly likely that Barak Norman I's son, Barak II, was deceased by 1770 since he left him nothing in the will. Indeed, the Midway Congressional Church Death Records, 1752-1858 include a Barak Norman, d. 1764, which couldn't be a reference to Barak I since his will is dated 1770.

Will

  • Barak Norman II had child Elizabeth Norman;
  • Elizabeth Norman married a man with surname Sillavant;
  • Elizabeth Norman had two children: Elizabeth Sillavant, and a Son born in 1770;
  • All three grandchildren were born after 1752, since they had not yet "arrive[d] to age" as of the writing of the will;
  • It is highly likely that Barak Norman I's son, Barak II, was deceased by 1770 since he left him nothing in the will. Indeed, the Midway Congressional Church Death Records, 1752-1858 include a Barak Norman, d. 1764, which couldn't be a reference to Barak I since his will is dated 1770.
